Le Volleyeur Français: What's Next and What's Changing

Le Volleyeur Français: The Next Chapter

I'm not deleting Le Volleyeur Français. No end to the channel, no end to the audience: just a change of name and direction. Le Volleyeur Français is becoming Jbrysse. I owe you a clear explanation, so I've also put it in a video, point by point.

Watch the video that explains everything

Here, I'll lay it all out. Unfiltered.

What I wanted in the beginning: to be a YouTuber, not to create a volleyball media outlet

I wanted to be a YouTuber. A real channel of my own. To make any kind of content, as long as it was mine.

I didn't dream of being France's first volleyball YouTube channel. I dreamed of being a YouTuber. On the other hand, I always wanted to create content around volleyball.

When I launched Le Volleyeur Français, I had set two goals. One: to create content about volleyball. Two: to make volleyball popular.

I achieved the first. Not the second.

How I became a media outlet without realizing it

For about a year and a half, I made really personal content. My ideas, my formats, my pace.

Then collaborations with organizations took over. The shoots, the requests, the permissions, other people's schedules. I wanted to do things so seriously that I put all my time into them, thus forgetting my personal content.

Unintentionally, I became a go-to volleyball content creator. And therefore, a media outlet.

I became a media outlet. A reporter. No longer a YouTuber.

I didn't want to build a media outlet for experts. That wasn't the project.

Volleyball doesn't excite the French enough

I'll say it bluntly: volleyball doesn't excite the French enough. Neither the sport nor its players.

Look at what volleyball players themselves watch: more football than their own championship. And I don't want to spend my life surfing on the performances of the French national teams to exist.

The observation is not new. Europe 1 already described volleyball as "the media underdog of team sports." And as the Sport in France page reminds us, football remains the most-watched sport in the country, far ahead of the rest.

I've been around

In six years, I have fulfilled almost all my volleyball-related dreams. I'm not saying it to brag. I'm saying it because it means something: I've been around.

Volleyball gave me everything. Meetings, an audience, a job, a brand, sports camps. It is precisely because I have received so much that I can say it simply: thank you, and now I want to explore something else.

I'm doing the same concepts again, and creating exclusively volleyball content no longer nourishes me like before. I have an artist's soul, I have a need to create that needs space, and I prefer to say it honestly rather than pretend.

In six years, content creation has changed enormously. And me, I don't recognize myself in the news formats. I don't want to force myself to cover a piece of news because it matters for volleyball, or because a media outlet is supposed to do it. I don't want to produce volleyball content that I don't like under the pretext that these formats work today. Even less a certain form of short content.

English: tried, not for me

I tested it. Volleyball videos in English, to target a larger market. The market is there. The pleasure, no.

I can be funny in English. But I am not as free, as natural, as comfortable as in French.

I want to succeed in French first. It's my language. That's where I'm good.

The English channel, @JeromeVolleyball, is not deleted for that. It will probably be slightly fed for a while, and that could change later. Nothing is erased, I simply prefer to create in French.

I want to be the main character

I inspired volleyball content creators who are doing the work very well today. I no longer need to be the one who covers everything.

I say it without contempt for anyone. Journalism taught me to look at the work of others, and I have a lot of respect for those who do this job. But in this role, I feel that I am not showing what I am capable of creating.

I had the chance to interview people I admire, and I keep an immense gratitude for the female and male players who granted me their trust. I still want to tell and share stories, but I don't want to do only that.

I want to become someone outside of volleyball. And later, make documentaries about superstars. For that, you must first build an identity and notoriety that do not depend on volleyball.

Simplifying my entire ecosystem

I multiplied the accounts, the channels, the projects. To the point where I no longer knew where to turn.

I spent my time thinking about what content goes on which account, which platform to develop, which audience to serve. This multiplication diluted my energy and my creativity.

So I simplify. Completely. Fewer accounts, but each with a clear identity: one channel for entertainment, one channel for documentaries. Two channels, two roles, all my energy concentrated in the same place.

What continues

LVF continues. The sportswear brand remains what it is: lvf.world for the general public, and lvf.world/pages/equipementier-sportif for clubs, teams, and organizations that need a sports equipment supplier.

Le Volleyeur Français is not deleted. Nothing disappears: the channel is kept, it continues to publish, it simply changes its name and direction. The channel will therefore become "Jbrysse"

Documentaries have their own channel: Jérôme Brysse. Short films, documentaries, all formats of the kind, in the same place.

On the social media side, it's also clarifying. The old Le Volleyeur Français accounts all become @Jbrysse. One name, one place to follow the entertainment.

Two channels, two roles, no ambiguity. Entertainment for Jbrysse, documentaries for Jérôme Brysse.

Volleyball will still appear greatly in my content, but it will no longer define everything I create.

The name, on the other hand, counts concretely. Over the last three months, the query "le volleyeur francais" sent 114 clicks to lvf.world for 262 impressions, in third place, with 42.6% CTR. My YouTube channel appears right behind in the results, my Instagram too. It's a recognized entity. I'm not breaking it.

And LVF CAMP also continues, with the sports camps and camps: lvfcamp.com. That, that doesn't move.

The risk

I'm not going to pretend: it's a huge risk.

Nothing guarantees that my volleyball audience will follow me. Nothing guarantees that Jbrysse will work with the general public.

I will probably get much fewer views. And I will have to rebuild almost everything.

But I prefer to try rather than wake up in a few years still doing something I already know I don't want to do anymore.

Why short content deserves better

Short content has tired me. The generic, the copied recipes, the formats seen and reseen.

Always the same concepts, the same staging, the same codes. We no longer search, we reproduce.

I want to bring novelty to short content. More original, more natural, more creative ideas. Use these formats as a real creative playground, not as a copy-paste of what already works.

And there is something else. The volleyball content scene has grown a lot, and that's good news: more people are talking about it, more people are trying, more people are transmitting. Many do it very well, but not only: some use volleyball to sell their training (with or without skills, by the way) and I don't want to be associated with that. I don't want to be associated with this wave, nor that I be categorized in it, because my place is elsewhere.

This reinforces my desire to move away from the current volleyball content ecosystem and build something else.

The page turns

I don't know exactly where it's going. I know it's moving forward.

The page turns. Not the story.

Before continuing, thank you. Thank you to those who have followed me since the beginning, to the female and male players who opened their rooms and locker rooms to me, to the clubs that welcomed me, to the volunteers and managers who made room for me. Six years of trust, that is not forgotten, and that is what made everything else possible.

FAQ

Why is Le Volleyeur Français stopping?

The channel is not stopping: it is changing its name and direction. Le Volleyeur Français becomes Jbrysse, the audience remains, the editorial line evolves. What I am stopping is my role as a volleyball media outlet. I have been around exclusively volleyball content, I no longer want my creativity to depend on other people's schedules, and I want to become a creator of my own projects again. The channel changes direction, not story.

Is the Le Volleyeur Français YouTube channel deleted?

No. Nothing is deleted. The channel is kept and renamed: it will now be called Jbrysse. It remains online, it continues to publish, and the audience remains the same. The content, on the other hand, evolves: entertainment takes up all the space. Documentaries, including short films, are released on Jérôme Brysse.

Are you stopping volleyball?

No. I am stopping making it my only subject. Volleyball will continue to appear in my content, occasionally, when I have something to say about it. It will no longer define everything I create.

Where to follow the new content?

All entertainment is released on Jbrysse, the renamed Le Volleyeur Français channel. Documentaries, including short films, are released on Jérôme Brysse. On the social media side, the old Le Volleyeur Français accounts will become @Jbrysse on Instagram, @Jbrysse on TikTok and @Jeromebrysse on X. For the brand, everything remains on lvf.world.
